Suchet Kitab Ghar was founded in Lahore by author/editor Maqsood Saqib in 1998 to publish books in Punjabi maaNboli languages. It has since produced a consistent stream of literary book-length works including collections of poetry and short fiction, novels, history and literary criticism.

Publishing in Shahmukhi, Suchet has presented most major literary titles written in Gurumukhi, and in doing that, has presented authors from both East and West Punjab.

Suchet operates on a non-profit business model, and is sustained by its own publications and community-based support as opposed to any governmental or non-governmental funding.

During the first decade of its operation, Suchet has established high standards in editing, production and management despite an overall negative environment for Punjabi language and literature in the country.

By April 2009, Suchet had published 90 literary titles featuring the works of over a hundred Punjabi writers.
